PRACTICAL HELP FOR ABORTION ACCESS

The situation is grim: 58% of US women of reproductive age live in the 29 states that are hostile to abortion rights. They face formidable financial challenges, especially if they are teenagers, mothers with young children, or part of a modest-income family. Abortion procedures can be expensive, and the attendant costs—for transportation, childcare, an overnight stay, work-days lost—can make the total cost unaffordable.

Help is available. Today there are over 80 “abortion funds.” These organizations provide accurate information about how to secure public funding if it is available and how to navigate logistical challenges. They also directly support many of their callers needing financial assistance. But abortion funds do not have the resources to assist everyone seeking help. We urge you to contribute to an abortion fund of your choice.

To understand the everyday reality of an abortion fund, watch this award-winning, 13-minute film about the Philadelphia abortion fund.
